The Great Sage

Sun Wukong, King of Flower Mountain, wielder and wearer of the 8 ton Earth Stabilizing Rod feared nothing except for the inevitability of Death. That was the catalyst that forever changed his destiny and led him on his search for immortality.

I chose to depict his body etched with deep carvings, evidence of the grueling punishment and trials he endured to achieve his mystical powers, a history of titanic battles and his 500 years of captivity. These proud scars he bears are the reason why Sun Wukong is truly the Great Sage, Equal of Heaven.
