Ferocity (Bruce Lee)

The many tales of the one true Gung Fu Superstar. Bruce Lee was unmatched with how he expressed himself on the sliverscreen.

When I did this piece, Bruce was surprisingly hard to draw, there was an immense pressure. I was thinking maybe I wasn’t portraying him at his best. There was also the struggle of managing his poses, the imagery of his existing pictures were just too strong. Time made his poses too iconic for original changes. In the end I opted for something a bit more charicatured, I focused on muscle dynamism, made his hair more wild, a deeper frown with bushier eye brows.

The end result looks nothing like Bruce Lee, especially if you do a picture comparison but somehow I felt it feels more like the man I adore. Bruce’s artistry simply can’t be mimiced or perhaps my current level isn’t high enough for that! Please enjoy.
